Hong and I drove north and west to Fukui Prefecture on the Japan Sea coast last weekend, and along the way we stopped to take in the beauty of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. It was an interesting size; small enough that you could easily see the other side, but large enough that it still seemed like a very substantial body of water.
